The Lock Down

  The Lock Down

My heart is pumping as fast as a drum. Everybody is squishing me. The lights are out. The siren is singing. The whiteboard is covering me. I feel like I'm stranded on an island. The furniture is making me feel trapped. Inhaling slowly, my lungs get filled with oxygen. A gentle breeze passes slowly through the classroom. I started to worry as the speaker talks. It was scorching hot being trapped. It didn't feel like a drill.  Suddenly the siren stops and the speaker says, "This is a lock down drill.''
