The Lock Down

  The Lock Down

My heart is pumping as fast as a drum. Everybody is squishing me. The lights are out. The siren is singing. The whiteboard is covering me. I feel like I'm stranded on an island. The furniture is making me feel trapped. Inhaling slowly, my lungs get filled with oxygen. A gentle breeze passes slowly through the classroom. I started to worry as the speaker talks. It was scorching hot being trapped. It didn't feel like a drill.  Suddenly the siren stops and the speaker says, "This is a lock down drill.''

Letter to Mum and Dad from the Army

Letter to Mum and Dad from the Army

Dear Mum and Dad,

I am sorry that I haven't written to you in a month. It is because I've been busy with the soldiers. A week ago five nurses got shot. I can smell gas everywhere and I can't see where I'm going. It's too dark with all the bombs exploding. I don't want to be here. I want to go home. The dresses here are really cold and they don't have sleeves. I always get lost in the trenches. My shoes are filled with mud and water and I can't take them off. I haven't eaten for days and I'm freezing. That's all for now.

Love Maura

2016

                                  2016

Welcome to my 2016 blog learning journey

Tuesday, 20 October 2015

Yesterday we made scrambled eggs in our class and we added some pepper and a little bit of parsley. We used five eggs and we put in some butter. The eggs we used were from our own free range chickens.

When we finished everyone got a little piece and it was delicious. Yum.

Rocky and Charlie

This is Rocky and Charlie. When we just got them they were so cute and fluffy. Here we have made them a little pen so that they can walk. Charlie and Rocky are pekin duck and when they grow up they won't be able to fly. When pekin duck are little they are yellow and when they start to grow up they turn white. Our pekin duck are really friendly and they like to be picked up and touched. Pekin ducks are good with other animals and they love to be next to people.

Learning In The Garden

A few weeks ago my friend, Deejay and I did the gardening. I am the girl with the brown hair. When we did gardening we were learning about seed germination.

In this photo we are spreading the dirt so that we can plant the seeds. Deejay's dad helped to build the boxes to plant the seeds.  The seeds we planted were vegetables.  Hopefully by the end of the year we will have grown some yummy food.

My First Post

Today I learnt how to create my learning blog. This is a place I can share my learning.
